Growing Assets traces its roots back to 1954, when Charles Tomlinson founded a forestry consulting firm in northwest Alabama. At a time when forest management was still emerging, he helped landowners improve, protect and maximize the value of their timber and timberland.
Over the following decades the business grew to manage thousands of acres for landowners who recognized the long-term value of investing in their natural resources. In 1997, Charles partnered with his son, Stephan Tomlinson, establishing Tomlinson & Associates and bringing together generations of experience in forestry, land management, timber harvesting, and rural real estate.
GROWING ASSETS TODAY
As the business flourished so did the need for better tools, and a way to preserve and manage their decades-worth of land-management knowledge. This was the impetus for developing the Growing AssetsTM Information Management Service, which began as a simple data-storage system and evolved into a multi-faceted and interactive software tool we use to run the business today
In 2008 Tomlinson & Associates branched into Natural Resources Group for land sales, and Growing Assets for land services. Today, Growing Assets provides forestry consulting, land management, timber sale administration, and the complete range of natural resource services. While our name has changed over the years our goal remains the same: to be the trusted partner for landowners in improving, protecting, and maximizing the value of their timber and timberland investments.
